Start of eCommerce WG

(originally sent on 06.10.2001)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Dear All,

This is to announce the start of the "eCommerce WG" of ISOC-VN.

Due to big interest in the subject during and after our recent Round-Table,
some active members and friends of ISOC in Vietnam decided to start a
Working Group ("WG") about eCommerce in Vietnam.

Based on the discussions during that meeting, our aim is to find ways how
to start using eCommerce in Vietnam as soon as possible, i.e. without
waiting for a complete legal framework.

We plan at the moment to produce a White Paper, which can be submitted to
relevant government offices and ministries, and a Presentation for meetings
etc. Some organizations have already expressed interest to speak and to
discuss with us.

The subject might be subdivided into three parts:
1. Opportunities and threats of eCommerce for Vietnam
2. Development of eCommerce and relevant laws in other countries
3. Current obstacles and first steps to start eCommerce in Vietnam

I herewith invite everybody, who is interested to contribute his thoughts
etc., or or to contribute otherwise (e.g. doing some Web research), to
contact me, or to subscribe directly to <wg-eComm@ISOC-VN.org>.

I volunteer to chair the WG and take charge for the third part.
The first two parts are open for adoption.

As it looks now, this WG can contribute valuable input to the national
development, and will help to establish ISOC-VN as a dedicated partner to
develop the Internet to the benefit of Vietnam.

Wanted now: Volunteers.

Best Regards,
Stefan
