ICT for Development NGO lunchtime meeting and presentation at UNDP 3 March 2004

I have just sent this invitation out potentially interested parties in our
networks. I would be grateful if you could pass the work within your own
community. We are happy to say that UNDP can provide some refreshments for
this meeting, which I hope will be the first of many.
I hope that this message is as you wanted it.
Note that I will be going with the rest of my office to Hue and will return
Saturday afternoon. Will try to check email but irregularly.

Subject: ICT for Development NGO lunchtime meeting and presentation at UNDP 3 March 2004

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that UNDP will host a lunchtime meeting of
the poposed NGO ICT Working Group at UNDP on WEDNESDAY 3 MARCH 2003
from 12:00 to 14:00 hours in Conference room A. With this message we
would like to invite anyone who is interested in Information and
Communications Technology for Development to attend.

You need not be an NGO to attend. All are welcome. I think you will find
this will be an extremely interested the information presented at this
meeting.

UNDP will provide snacks and refreshments without charge. So
PLEASE RSVP BEFORE 12:00 on 2 March to me at <vern.weitzel@undp.org> or
Ms Le Le Lan at <le.le.lan@undp.org> tel 942-1495 ext 226 to confirm that
you will attend.

The proposed agenda is as follows:

* Discussion of networking among NGOs on ICT issues by David Payne,
Co-Director, VUFO-NGO Resource Centre.

* Presentation by Mr Ngo Duc Minh of ActionAid Viet Nam on
- Lessons learnt from ICT Information Centers in Dien Bien province.
- Initiatives to develop Community Knowledge Database
- Initiative to promote better communication for sharing and learning
among communities in Thanh Nua commune, Dien Bien province.

(followed by a discussion session)

* Comments on recent research on ICTs and the Millennium Development Goals
from UNDP.
