Free and Open Source Software Asia-Pacific (FOSSAP) Consultation
Date: 9-11 Feb 2004
Venue: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We are pleased to announce that the International Open Source Network
(IOSN), an initiative of UNDP's Asia-Pacific Development Information
Programme, is organizing the Free and Open Source Software Asia-Pacific
(FOSSAP) Consultation on 9-11 February 2004 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The consultation is designed to provide an effective policy-level
platform for the exchange of information and experiences in the use of
Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for development. Many countries,
especially in the Asia-Pacific, have questions and uncertainties on the
use of FOSS for development. There is a growing need for awareness
raising on the benefits of FOSS, assistance with formulation of national
policies, and case studies of FOSS implementation. The consultation is
designed to assist policy makers with these different issues.

The consultation will primarily target policy-makers who can influence
national ICT policies, including Director-Generals/senior officials of
ministries involved in ICT policy-making, Technical Directors/Heads of
ICT departments of ministries, and Heads of National ICT interest
groups.
