All the papers are available with abstracts at http://opensource.mit.edu/online_papers.php That site's a classic that's been going for a few years already. The oldest paper online is circa 1993. MIT-Sloane's von Hippel, Eric, 2001 - 03, "Open Source Shows the Way - Innovation By and For Users - No Manufacturer Required" seems to have been the founder but also seems to have moved on.
