Dear All, it looks to me, that virtually nobody inside Vietnam contributes to the development of any major SW package. There is some "take it and use it" (see the Vietnamese Linux Distros and OpenOffice translations), but nothing is fed back to the project. Thanh (translation of Mandrake, etc.) is one of the very few exceptions whom I know. True there are some Vietnamese abroad, but nearly nobody here in Vietnam. My questions: 1) Is this so, or am I wrong. If so: who participates in which project? 2) If so: what are the reasons? - programming skills? minor reason probably - mentality (little interest to contribute)? minor to medium reason probably - language skills? medium reason probably - procedure skills? major reason probably If my assessment is not too wrong: what do you think about looking whether we can find external support (e.g. LUG or University) to coach a few people in the major Vietnamese Universities on how to use a CVS system etc.? Those people there would then teach/introduce others (in Vietnamese).... If I can get some feedback before the holidays, then I would look already where (what partner) and how (technology) it could be done. Cheers, Stefan
