Director of the company – a Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (VNPT) affiliate – Nguyen Anh Tuan said that the launch of VASC’s Certification Authority (CA) and Payment software was a breakthrough for the industry. The CA is similar to electronic signatures used widely in developed countries over the past decade to protect Internet transactions from hackers, impostors, eavesdroppers and denial of origin in the virtual world, Tuan said. Meanwhile, the payment software could help net users who have a bank account, and service providers, pay on-line for cyber-shopping and other public services. The Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam (Vietcombank) and Technological and Commercial Bank (Techcombank) will be the two commercial banks to offer the service and VMS mobile phone users will be able to pay the service providers through the Internet. — VNS
